KAIO ands "onstat -g iov" output

We see the following output for onstat -g iov:
AIO I/O vps:
class/vp s io/s totalops dskread dskwrite dskcopy wakeups io/wup
kio 0 i 4.0 225118 223795 1323 0 451246 0.5
kio 1 i 2.5 139912 138237 1675 0 302512 0.5
msc 0 i 0.0 1279 0 0 0 1128 1.1
aio 0 i 0.0 51 1 1 0 52 1.0
aio 1 i 0.0 47 1 1 0 47 1.0
aio 2 i 0.0 42 38 0 0 41 1.0
aio 3 i 0.0 1 0 0 0 1 1.0
aio 4 i 0.0 1 0 0 0 1 1.0
aio 5 i 0.0 1 0 0 0 2 0.5
pio 0 i 0.0 0 0 0 0 1 0.0
lio 0 i 0.0 0 0 0 0 1 0.0
There seem to be enough aio-vps, but the two kio-vps might be
overloaded. Is there a way to get more of them to tune performance or
is this the wrong way to think?
Thank you, Jens
System is: HP-UX 11.0, IDS.2000 9.21.UC2, KAIO=1
Make sure you have NUMAIOVPS set to 1

RTFM .... "Performance Guide, Configuration Parameters and Environment
Variables That Affect CPU Utilization, NUMAIOVPS" :-
If your operating system supports KAIO, the CPU VPs make I/O requests
directly to the file instead of the operating-system buffers. In this case,
configure only one AIO VP, plus two additional AIO VPs for every buffered
file chunk.
You should not be using any buffered file chinks so NUMAIOVPS=1
If you are using any buffered / block devices then use cooked / raw ones
instaed.

cooked devices, are buffered devices.
--9.2 admin guide pg 14-8
Data Management with Cooked Files Versus Raw Disk Devices
When the operating system reads from a cooked file, it reads the data
from
disk to an internal buffer pool. Later, a second copy operation copies
it from
the operating system to the location requested by the application.
Therefore.
when two users both read the same file, the data is read from disk only
once
but copied from the operating-system buffer twice.
By contrast, when the operating system reads data from an unbuffered
file or
a raw disk device, it bypasses the operating-system buffer pool and
copies
the data directly to the location requested by the application. The
database
server requests that the data be placed in shared memory, making it
immedi-ately
available to all database server virtual processors and running threads
with no further copying.

Also, in some situations cooked devices have a negligible impact on
performance.
I can't imagine a couple of extra AIOVP's having anything like a
significant impact on performance.

My apologies or of course it should be cooked / block / buffered and raw /
character / unbuffered.
The latter being the preferred method of I/O for Online. Guess I need a
better syntactical spell checker.
