Elvis seen in Peru? To: rmy!informix-list@emory.UUCP (Informix Discussion List), neal@emory.UUCP (Neal Rhodes) Date: Mon, 30 Sep 91 11:28:02 EDT X-Mailer: ELM [version 2.2 PL11] X-Informix-List-Id: <list.468> <I am trying to help someone with ISQL 2.10.3k. They have a bunch of small <reports on a small database. Most of them work. One core dumps. <Here is a chunk of it: ============================================================================== <input PROMPT for var_begdate USING "Enter Beginning date ... " < PROMPT for var_endate USING "Enter Ending date .... " <end The above looks good so far, providing you defined the variables. Thats an assumption, nasty, nasty. <output <{ report to pipe "lp" THIS Gets "memory fault - core dumped"} <{ report to pipe "cat > nrpz.out" THIS Gets "memory fault - core dumped"} < report to "nrpz.out" {THIS works just fine...sheesh! } < left margin 0 < right margin 133 <end Report to "lp", is this an active device on your system? Can you execute this from any directory in your system? If not use the full pathname (pipeline) for this command. Ex. /dev/lpr. Report to pipe "cat > nrpz.out" same as above. Question, are the above commands directories in your current "path"? If not include them in your path. Ex. PATH=/bin:/usr/bin:/lib:/usr/lib. <SELECT * FROM enroll, program, outer genacct < WHERE (enr_paydate between $var_begdate AND $var_endate) < AND enr_program = prog_code < AND enr_progqtr = prog_qtr < AND enr_year = prog_year < AND prog_genacct = gen_acct < ORDER BY gen_acct, gen_acctnam, enr_paydate <END <============================================================================== <I noticed that by changing the REPORT TO clause I can make it execute. But <other reports do work with an output to pipe. Am I missing something, or <was there a goofy bug in that version of ISQL? <------------------------------------------------------------------------------ <Neal Rhodes MNOP Ltd (404)- 972-5430 <President Lilburn (atlanta) GA 30247 Fax: 978-4741 emory!mnopltd!neal <------------------------------------------------------------------------------ <(ok. I stuck that Elvis thing in to get your attention.......) Sorry, I missed Elvis the first time. And no, I don't miss him now. Neal, carefully check the command syntax for your operating system, an extra space, amissing comma or simicolon, or a different "end of line" character from your editor or word processor can cause unforeseen problems and crashes.
