SE 7.1 ANSI owner name problem
Posted in 1996
I have a knotty problem with an upgrade from SE version 4.0 to 7.1. The 4.0 database is mode ANSI and therefore uses owner names. It is on a Unix system and therefore the user names are in lower case. SE 4.0 stores these in lower case and there are no problems with bare unquoted owner names and the USER pseudo-column returns a lower-case user name. My applications all contain table names qualified with the unquoted owner name. SE 7.1 has seriously broken this good behaviour. If I create a table (OR ANY OTHER OBJECT) without an explicit owner name, the name gets stored in lower case as before BUT unquoted references to it now do not work as they are shifted to upper case. Therefore I would have to quote every owner name in my applications. Does anyone have any suggestions ? Have you had this problem ? TIA.
