Re: Which GUI to frontend 7.1?

Let's hear from the audience: "If Informix were so bold as to introduce Java as an integral part of the server and tools architecture, what would you do with it?" For example, would Java be used for Intranet, Intranet applications only (phone list, personnel photos, information kiosks); maybe some elements of a datawarehouse (data mining tools, deployment of end user access to the warehouse). At the extreme, would anyone really bet their OLTP systems on Java? Will commercial users align their strategies and direction with a non proprietary language for their core systems and effectively hinge the viability of their business on Java. Maybe. I'm just asking. I recall that CIO translates to "career is over". Will a CIO walk into the CEO's office and say "Boss, I've saved US$350,000 on tools and related vendor services by implementing all our new core systems R&D in Java."? Maybe. I'm just asking.
