What I'm trying to say is that YES, informix is a better engine then Postgres, in lots of points of views. But I see much more progress in PostgreSQL then in informix or oracle. I believe that it's because of the nature of it been an Open Source database, having direct contact between the developers and the users. I believe that is very importante! As far as my experience with informix, support really sucks. I have sent lots of messages to the informix support with behave of the Solaris 8 problem and had no responce at all (not even a: "contact your SUN dealer"), which happen to be the same that happened with the SUN support team. No answer at all. Conclusion: Informix support is not as good as they say it is, but the engine is much better then others in some points. P.D.: As you can see, my focus is on the future, not the present.
