Yes, I thought the "aborted by client" bit can only mean that the
termination was completely external to informix, i.e.: OS. We also seem to
be having some problems with people who should change tapes not changing
tapes, our operators severely need geeing up.

This message usually appears when backup process was terminated. Probably
someone has killed ontape process, or process died unexpectedly.
