Hi, 'describe' is supposed to return the type of the statement. A code of 6 indicates that you executed a describe for an 'insert' statement. A complete list of values can be found in $INFORMXDIR/incl/esql/sqlstype.h (e.g. 2=select, 3=select into, 5=delete, 6=insert, ...). This behavior is documented in the ESQL/C manual . Hope this helps, Heiko mars1972@my-deja.com wrote: > I'm having a problem using a descriptor. Oh. My. God. I feel like such an idiot. Thanks for the help. Or the kick in the butt. Whichever.
