Check your online.log file (MSGPATH in $INFORMIXDIR/etc/$ONCONFIG).
If this is not a disk permissions problems or other obvious problem
then try
a) Check $INFORMIXDIR/release/.../ONLINE_7.2
You made need to add a line containing the word SHMBASE to your
$INFORMIXDIR/etc/$ONCONFIG file.
b) Try increasing
set shmsys:shminfo_shmmax=16777216
to
set shmsys:shminfo_shmmax=67108864
>set shmsys:shminfo_shmmin=100
