Ontape and onbar
Posted in 2014
Topics: Backup & Restore
Hi,
Can I use onbar and ontape to backup an instance? I meant use onbar to send a
backup on a storage and ontape to send another backup to the tape in diferents
hours.
Thanks in advance.

Yes. You can use onbar and ontape at different times to archive the
instance. You just have to keep track of which is the most recent if you
need to restore since you will have to locate the archive and restore it
with the same tool. Onstat -g arc will only be able to tell you when the
latest archive was taken, not which tool was used or where it was stored.

Also any log backups are not compatible between the onbar and ontape and for
onbar a log backup may need to be restored.
