Update statistics and distributions
Posted in 2005

Hi, When i run Update statistics medium on the database, the space in the Dbspaces is getting filled up. I want to know whether the distributions created during this are stored in the corresponding dbspaces of the tables. Bye.
Hi,
as far as I know, the data generated by update statistics is stored
in tables that belong to the system catalog, e.g. table sysdistribs.
Since the system catalog is created when you create the database,
update statistics data will go into the dbspace where the databaseresides. And this is true for all tables of this database, regardless
where the tables themselves reside.
Regards,
Martin

Make
sure, that your DBSPACETEMP is valid (flag T) and listed in ONCONFIG.
If not, a lot of work for building statistcs medium or high is done in
datadbs.

The distributions are stored in the system catalog table sysdistrib.
