Re: IDS 9.40 UC5/linux update statistics crashes engine on large table
Posted in 2004
Ok, this crash may be the result of a different issue. I was getting
the load ready to create a new db and copy of the table (as you
mentioned) and figured out that the rows in the original unload file
and the rows in the new table created do not match. I went through my
steps and made sure I didnt do anything wrong or miss some error
messages during the load. More strangeness with this table.. perhaps
its not an update statistics problem anymore. I'll explain here and
open a new thread on the new topic with more detail..
originally I unloaded the rows from an hpux server ids 9.21 using hpl:
(snip from the log)
Database Unload Completed -- Unloaded 15612487 Records Detected 0
Errors
ftp'd the 4 unload files over to the new linux server running 9.40 UC5
wc -l *.unl results in 15612487 total
used ipload, created a new job, etc.. and loaded the data into the
newly created table with no indexes created using express mode.. there
are no errors in the logfile and I did not realize this until now..
13:32:13 Records Processed -> 14460000
Table 'rate_deck_entry' will be read-only until level 0 archive
Database Load Completed -- Processed 14461533 Records
Records Inserted-> 14461533
Detected Errors--> 0
Engine Rejected--> 0
The number of rows do not match... Originally I skimmed the log for
errors and saw that it reported 0 and didn't really check the numbers.
this is only a snapshot of our current system so we can start testing
9.4 with our code, so I expected the numbers between servers to be
slightly different.. but not the flat files and what was actually
loaded into the table to be different. In further investigation, the
serial field which is also the primary key of the table is also
strange.. if I select max entry_id on both servers the results are
original server: 234940490
new server: 2088513660
something strange definitly happened in the load on the new table and
may be related to the reason the engine is crashing when trying to run
update statistics on it. I haven't found any known issues with hpl on9.4 related to serial fields or anything like this yet.. any ideas?
Thanx,
