jdbc connect to cluster

Following this example. http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21584668 When it says "A connection to the group will randomly select the SLA in the group to use for the connection." How is a jdbc conection string to the group? It has no port. Perhaps im missing something, this is new to me. Thanks in advance.
