Informix SE Text editing HELP

We are using SE 5 and would like a variable length text field (like memo field in Access for example). I know On line supports this but this seems like using a sledgehammer to crack a nut. All I really need is some C code which does the user input / editing and then passes the information back to Informix to store using multiple fixed length character records with a key to indicate text block and and order of the text records. ie text_block_ref integer text_block_ord integer text_line char(80) Does anyone know of a library containing something like this? Or maybe you have one which you are willing to share? Any help or advice gratefully recieved.
