Informix and systemd

Those of you on Linux, are you using systemd/sysctl calls to start and stop Informix or just using the Informix commands? It seems like it's just putting an unnecessary layer between things to me so any clarification or snags or caveats would be much appreciated. Thanks, Nate
I still use the /etc/rc.d scripts to start Informix using oninit -vw after
verifying that disk chunks are online. Most of the clients I service do
the same.
