Hi Keith,
the best thing is to use symbolic or hard links in chunk names. Then you
can simply point symbolic links to new character special file and restore
your database system or move chunks through dd command from one disk
partition to another (of course after OnLine shutdown). The symbolic
links or hard links should always be used in all chunk names! If you
don`t have links in chunk names, then the safest way to move chunks is
to onunload or dbexport all your databases, reinitialize OnLine instance
and reload your data back. The fastest and unsafest way is to shutdown
OnLine, move chunks to final space and patch reserved pages with new
chunk names and start OnLine again; I don`t recommend it. In all cases do
level 0 archive first. Regards,
