The "documentation" I'm referring to is the usage text that esql prints out when you invoke esql without any arguments. (I tried to send this message earlier with a screenshot, but it doesn't look like the message made it to the list.) Or, work out the ESQL/C version and > configure accordingly. I'm already working out the ESQL/C version, but I'd have to know which version numbers, if any, responded to -ed instead of -ED. Since you doubt that there are any, that's good enough for me to always use -ED.
