Have Online 5.10 UC3 system to install. Also have: ESQL Runtime, ESQL/C Dev, SQL (Dev), STAR TCP/IP Is correct order to install these five Informix products as follows? 1. ESQL Runtime (multiple user license) 2. ESQL/C Development (1 user license) 3. SQL Development (1 user license) 4. Online 5.10 (multiple user license) 5. STAR TCP/IP (multiple user license) Thanks in advance. (Does any IDS sysadmin still remember?) Larry Timmins
Okay -- since I have had no takers -- I'll go brute force (like I have the time to kill). Informix documentation states applications, database then network add-ons. However it doesn't address proper order within the applications area for instance. BTW -- I'll be using a Perl/DBI/DBD integrated environment once the Informix DB is up and running. ISQL (which I assume is what you mean by SQL Development) is the only 'tool'. The ESQL/C products are best treated as Engines, so I'd install them before the OnLine, and finally Star. Having said that, doing the installation in the order you proposed would mean that ISQL might damage some message files installed by ESQL/C (by installing retrograde versions of those files), *but* installing OnLine afterwards wipes out the damage so your installation order is OK. It isn't clear that you technically have to install both ESQL RunTime and ESQL/C Development, but you've certainly covered any legal bases if you do so. If you've got the licence number to wave at any investigator, you could probably omit that step. Let me know if there are any issues with DBD::Informix on this platform... -- Jonathan Leffler (jleffler@informix.com, jleffler@earthlink.net) Guardian of DBD::Informix v0.60 -- see http://www.perl.com/CPAN #include <disclaimer.h>
