I would like to unload this data to tape and rebuild it. I am >using 5.1 Informix SE on aix 3.2.5, how do I unload to tape? There is a solution, but depending on your operating system capabilities: sql: unload to /dev/your_tape_device select * from table where .... and back if AIX 3.2.5 doesn't know about named pipes: sh: tr -d "[\\000]" </dev/your_tape_device >tmp_unload_file sql: load from tmp_unload_file insert into table To restore you need at least enough disk space to hold the temporary file. The 'tr' is needed to delete ASCII null's (inserted by the tape driver ...) else sh: mknod loading_pipe p sh: tr -d "[\\000]" </dev/your_tape_device >loading_pipe & sql: load from loading_pipe insert into table -- Chris Drauch ...................................................................... . c/o DRAUCH Ges.m.b.H.
