Change the informix database to read only

Dear All, I want to put one of my informix database to read only mode. Can anybody provide the solution to change the database to read only mode. Thanks, Gulshan
Hi Gulshan
Informix have no "read only mode". No databases have it...
IDS has "on-line" mode that means all data inside the instance is available to
access and modify if the user have permissions to do updates/deletes/inserts.
If you want to protect your data, removing the permissions to
users/applications do not modify the data in the database, run the statements
to revoke insert/update/delete permissions from users in tables.
I mean:
If you have a table usertable and you want to protect the data , get the list
of users in database who have permission to insert/delete/update this table.
Run the statement:
revoke insert, update, delete on usertable from user1, user2, user3...;If you want , give 'select' permission to users access the data only to 'read'

You have read-only mode during HDR replication as the secondary from the
primary, which is On-line mode .

Normally , I use "dbschema -d DATABASE -p all " and use "sed" chang
grant->revoke , to->from.
Then I will have script to revoke all user permission. (Don't forget to keep
the original file).
You can use "oninit -j" to turn IDS into Single-user mode which only informix
user can use the instance.
In 11.50, You can allow some user to access the database in administration
mode, not only informix user.
