In HP, here's what I get for errno 28:
ErrNo: 28 ShortDesc: ENOSPC LongDesc: No space left on device /
Could be your tape parameters are set bigger than the tape capacity??

Sounds like you are using compression on the tape and not achieving
the ratio you need. Basically it looks like the tape is full.
