Re: Estimated time of completion

} Today at work I was writing a year-end routine which I knew would take } a LONG TIME to complete, thus I decided to write a function which would } display the estimated time of completion. } } The program calculated how many rows in a table to update, and then } timed how long 50 records took to update. This time was then used to } work out how long was left to complete the program. } } Because of the RS being a multi-user system, the time was very erratic, } going from say 10:50 hours to 18:00 hours to 2 hours. } } Can anybody suggest a better way of estimating how long a program will } take, with less fluctuations? } } Paul Eccleston, Try using a running average of your calculations. This way the estimated completion time will become steadily more accurate the longer the program runs. Cheers - Jim My opinions are my own.
