Dictionary Cache

We have a second virtual memory segment which we would like to free up. No users are currently using this segment but we do have 11 tables out of 773 using in for Dictionary Caching. Is there a way of either removing these tables from the Dictionary Cache or rehashing them to try and get them into the first segment ???? -- Earle A Long (Senior Informix DBA) SINGLEPOINT UK LTD

The whole point was that I wanted to free the second segment without
bouncing the engine. It's not normally a problem cos after a level 0 backup
(which creates a new segment) we free it. We had a peculiar set of
circumstances which led to the backup being done at 8am with 1000+ users on
and the second segment couldn't be freed. As it happens we hobbled along for
a few days coaxing the backups along by making sure enough of the shared
memory was free in the two segments before kicking it off. Then early one
morning we bounced the engine. The DD_ parameters are set to :-
DD_HASHMAX 511
DD_HASHSIZE 20
