I really can't believe my eyes reading this thread... For years now I'm having really, really hard times searching, downloading, reinstalling (and reinstalling and reinstalling) just to have a working copy of Online 5.x, IDS, 9.3, 9,4 etc; so I can learn, practice, and develop some software on my own. I saw some projects completely fail just for the fact developers haven't a *recent* working copy of IDS, (even a limited one!!)... they always claimed the same: "BUT IT WORKS IN ORACLE AND SQL-SERVER ! REALLY IT WORKS !!" To me IBM-Informix certainly is having hard times, and if not IBM then IIUG? My oh My !! Today I think to myself that Informix (IDS|XPS|etc) is the BEST DATABASE ALIVE ! REALLY... no other reason explains to me why it maintain itself in the market. Other was the case Informix was dead long time ago. The best of all is that it even shows some kind of recovery... It really is incredible. J. Christine Normile escribió: > Exactly my point, Jean. As does Pick. Lets hope there is more here than mere survival. I've yet to see IBM invest enough resources into the product to convince many CTOs that they should be buying new licenses. -- Daniel A.
