memory leak (well, kind of...) ?

We have a program written in ESQL/C from Informix that is running as a daemon. Lately that program has died occasionally. When it dies, it writes an message to the terminal that started it: > 4GL run-time error number -4518. The 4GL program cannot > allocate any more space for temporary string storage. The manual isn't very clear about this, as it always refer to 4GL-code that could produce this error. I have checked both the 4.* manuals and the 5.0 manuals. The 5.0 manual is a bit more verbose, but still pretty 4GL-ish. Have anybody experienced this message from ESQL/C ? What language constructs are likely to be the culprit ? I have monitored this program with ps(1), and it seems that the programs set size grows, but not so much that it could be a ulimit problem, I think. The c4gl is 4.00.UH1, the Online is 4.00.UE1, the OS is Texas Instruments TIsysV3.3.1, and the HW is Texas Instruments TI1590. thanks, -- Oeyvind Gjerstad Systems dept Tollpost-Globe AS N-6301 Aandalsnes/Norway E-mail: ogj@tglobe2.tollpost.no Phone: (+47 72) 26 663 Fax: (+47 72) 26 694
