Go for it. We do it on a 2 CPU Sparc 1000 w/ 2 CPU's and it works a lot better than with one CPUVP. You're the perfect candidate for this since there's nothing else going on, still, with only one CPUVP, only one Physical processor can be doing the heavy work. I don't know about other platforms, but Informix's advice to not use a second CPUVP for a 2 CPU Solaris box is in my not so humble opinion, bunk. The thing to watch out for is the PDQ parameters - too high, one user can dominate your machine, too low, and you don't get enough parallelism to improve things. I have found for us, PDQPRIORITY of 10 gets all the bang, and so far none of the problems of higher settings.
