DSL ROWID's are OK to use as long as you dont fragment your table across dbspaces. With 7.x, one is allowed to fragment the table across multiple dbspaces. You dont have to, but you can. When you do fragment, you can either remove references to ROWID from your programs, or ALTER your table to be WITH ROWID. The last is for backward compatibility only with programs such as yours (before your change). The ROWIDs thus created are not "real" rowids, but an additional column in the table, which will slow down your access compared to "real" rowids, but your programs would have worked. Since I never had to do this, my description may not be strictly accurate, but you get the general idea.
