A decision was made not to buy the Storage Array due to its poor performance (RAID5). When the 5000 arrived the Sun reseller lent us the Storage Manager again 'because it was much better now'. Again the tests showed the Storage Manager to be significantly slower than the RAID unit we eventually bought. The conclusion we came to was 'cos Storage Manager is software raid it was just not as quick as hardware raid.
