Re: MEMORY problem after Informix upgrade
Posted in 2000
Remember I said something about Solaris and grabbing memory in 16MB chunks? In case anyone was wondering: "On the Solaris platform setting the RESIDENT flag causes the server to use ISM (the Sun term for Intimate Shared Memory). This allows the kernel to share internal resources such as MMU entries, etc., between all processes that attach to the same shared memory. The requirement of this is that all shared memory segments have to be in multiples of 16M and attached at 16M address boundaries." This from someone at Informix who knows of which he speaks. Allegedly. I'm incapable of differentiating between sense and shite. :-) ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com
