Translating with DrWatson… this can take a few seconds the first time.
This is a genuine, complex translation. DrWatson protects commands, error codes, and log output while naturally translating the surrounding text. It’s translated once and saved.

My multi-threaded Informix esql process received a -710 (table-name has been
dropped, altered, or renamed) error. The process was using a prepared
statement to fetch using a cursor. The source table was not dropped,
altered, or renamed. I can't reproduce the problem. Subsequent runs of the
code work just fine.
Any ideas on what to investigate here? Are others getting occasional &
misleading -710 error messages in multi-threaded processes with Informix
7.24 UCX5 on HP-UX 10.20?

See Obnoxio's message for one possibility. Others:
CREATE ... TRIGGER ON ...
UPDATE STATISTICS MEDIUM/HIGH if it creates a distribution that did notexist before.
CREATE INDEX ...
DROP INDEX ...
ALTER FRAGMENT ...
ALTER INDEX ... TO CLUSTER/NOT CLUSTER
and a few other commands can all cause a prepared cursor to become no
longer valid and return a -710 on execution. It is best to have any
long running program that depends on cursors reprepare and reexecute if
it receives -710.
