If the HDR pair is up, then the secondary is in read-only mode. However= , if the primary server is down, then the secondary can switch to operate in= a "standard" mode, which will allow updates. If and when the primary is online again (as primary server), and the standard (secondary) server i= s switch back to a secondary server, then HDR pair will resync so that updates from the secondary (standard) server will be applied to the pri= mary server. thanks. davis. = "Dirk Moolman" = <DirkM@mxgroup.co = .za> = To Sent by: <informix-list@iiug.org> = owner-informix-li = cc st@iiug.org = Subj= ect Simple HDR question = 02/04/2004 01:40 = AM = = = = = Does the replicant (secondary) of an HDR system allow updates ? Davis, I think that this would result in lost transactions. Any transaction on the original primary that had not made it to the secondary when the disconnect occured would have rolled back on the secondary when it became standard. All work done on the primary past that point would be lost also. ER is a bit different, however. M.P.
