I realy agree with most of the other things you said (in the snipped part), but I wouldn't neccesarily predict a high price for the Universal server. Even Informix is starting to understand the pricing game, and that volume can make up for it. It realy can. An important point with Universal Server is that it means no less than a revolution in the database industry. It will also heavily influence programming languages (you will want an object oriented language with appropriate class libraries), connectivity software (ODBC can't easily be used without significant enhancments), the web and many other things. If Informix can execute this properly (good marketing, very easy availability - try befor buy, low price, all the thecnical parts +++) they have the greatest thing so far in the database industry at their hands.
