Yes, I always make that mistake, but I am usually looking for the
version and not the serial number. So you are excused Paul. :-)

Quick, but engine only, although -V is available on most Informix
commands.

I have learnt from bitter experience not to trust the contents of
.snfile. Although a lot of sites I visit don't trust me with the root
password. :-)
