What do you do when sqlexit() hangs?
Posted in 1995
Help please. I'm running OnLine 5.03 on SunOs. Cos I swap databses, sqlturbo grows over time, and cos my application runs continuously it grows a lot (1Mb per day!). (Bug number 24021) Tech support say the fix is to call sqlexit() when there is no database open. This works fine in a test case, but my application opens pipes and does rpc. This confuses things, and when you do the sqlexit() my process hangs. trace on my process gives this before it hangs... write (9, "".., 4) = 4 read (6, "".., 1024) = 28 close (6) = 0 close (9) = 0 wait4 (0, 0xefffeb94, 0, 0) = Purify doesn't reckon file descriptors 6 & 9 are in use, but says sqlturbo is on 1, which is a dup of 7. However 7 is claimed by clnttcpcreate. if you kill -9 the sqlturbo, then my process continues, until I open a few more pipes.... and then sqlexit() will hang it again. Calling sqlbreak() before sqlexit() doesn't help. Has anyone any suggestions/comments. Please mail me. Thanks in anticipation.
