: Not a simple task.
: The best way to do is to dbexport and save the sql schema , and put the
: "alter next size" before the table creations.
: Another, unsupported way, is to create a table , let say syscolumns with
: the required extent size, copy from the original, and then swap the
: partnumbers noted on systables. After that you MUST SHUTDOWN you database
: without any other operation. This is a dangerous way, but is the faster one.
: You can do this for all catalogs tables except for systables.
PLEASE DON'T DO THIS! This is very dangerous, and could lead to other
problems later on.
I seriously doubt that your "Cannot open file" error is caused by your system
catalogs being over 8 extents, unless they are also over 200 extents. (Try
tbcheck -pt to see how many extents you actually have.)
More likely, it's caused by running out of space in /tmp, running out of
memory, lock contention, a bug in tbcheck, or something like that. Have you
tried running tbcheck -pe? Does that also give the same error?
If all else fails, call Tech Support. Don't try messing with your system
catalogs.
