I think the problem is, the Informix segments should be owned by the
informix group, whether you start IDS as root or informix.

Did you copy your Informix S/W from another machine, or did you install
it? It looks like you don't have the correct permissions on your
Informix executables. Try running the install script again (with IDS
down) and see if permissions on binaries like oninit change.
