Hi there, I get locked table problems more and more these days. How do I manage them, get rid of them, prevent them, etc, etc. And sometimes I also get system catalog tables that are being locked................like the following one: java.sql.SQLException: Cannot read system catalog (sysprocplan). (-144)ISAM error: key value locked Please help......... Marius Erasmus DBA / UNIX Admin * (012) 672-2363 * 082 5522 848 * (012) 672-2661 " Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake!! "
Hi Marius, I experienced an issue like you months ago, but I did some changes regarding the way update statistics are run, and they fix the problem. I recommend you schedule update statistics processes to whole database tables using criteria levels recommended by Informix and also run update statistics for its procedures, but you should take off the tables from you daily update statistics process which are being referenced inside stored procedures. I'm really sure it will solve your problem. Thanx for the replies. A few other questions: * Is it possible to specify a value for SET LOCK TO WAIT <n> in the ONCONFIG file? The reason is because all my clients connect via ODBC, and I need a global setting for this value. * If full table scans locks tables. Is it possible to avoid this by putting indexes on columns that are in the SELECT clause, or are indexes only affected and used by columns in the WHERE clause?? Thanx Marius. -----Original Message----- From: Erasmus, Marius Sent: 17 July 2003 11:16 AM To: ids@iiug.org Subject: Locked Tables [1564] Hi there, I get locked table problems more and more these days.
