Limit some clients to use portion of DBSPACETEMP

Can we limit some users from using all the temp dbspace available on an instance. If suppose we have 4 temp dbspaces assigned to an instance and we want a group of users only using one dbspace out of the 4, how can we achieve that. My understanding is that the onconfig parameter DBSPACETEMP is set to have all four. Then each user's environment can be set to use one temp dbspace using the DBSPACETEMP env variable. Would this work? Are there any known problems with this solution? If we have Windows clients running some reports against the remote database server through some reporting utility, how can we be able to set DBSPACETEMP to a single dbspace thru setnet32? Would this work for Windows clients or not? Thanks, Shehla

Bear in mind that for absolute sort performance there should be three or four temp dbspaces in the list for users doing large sorting. > > If we have Windows clients running some reports against the remote database > server through some reporting utility, how can we be able to set DBSPACETEMP > to a single dbspace thru setnet32?
