Does HP-UX striping give performance boost or decrease?

Merry Christmas from the land of original Santa Claus! (Finland)! There has been discussions how to organize hard disks to get optimum performance, but .. I have: - L-series HP9000 with 2GB RAM and 6 x 18 GB Hard Disks. - Those disks are now mirrored and striped (with minimum supported Block Size which is 1MB ?). - The disk volume is then divided to 2GB chunks for database usage. - One Lvol is mounted to unix-filesystem for saving logs (and Online message-file) Is there (much) better ways to get the max out of disks? No striping perhaps? Should I move logs away from same disk set to separate disk? How can I measure the performance of my construction? Thanks for any comments Pentti
