Two different and likely unrelated problems. For the first problem: onmode -I 154 might give you more clues (see https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SSGU8G_12.1.0/com.ibm.adref.doc/ids_ adr_0666.htm ) -> "Lock Timeout Expired" (error # 154) is your problem, i.e. some (application?) activity holding some lock for longer than your below Java application is willing/configured to wait. -> not an Informix problem typically For the second problem ("Smart Large Objects: open: Bad smart-large-object address. Object might have been deleted.") things might be more complicated (warranting a support PMR), yet in essence the same technique could be applied for obtaining more information around the problem. Relevant error number probably is 12097, so 'onmode -I 12097' would be the command. Would you know if this applies to specific smart large objects (BLOB or CLOB data type columns most likely, in table being worked on), so a real data corruption had to be assumed? Or is this more of a transient problem? This is just the more superficial and consequential error for "Lock Timeout Expired": trying to access a row, you've got to wait on a lock until this times out, so you can't get to the row - that's what this "Could not position ..." is telling.
