Re: Legato / ONBAR on Solaris 5.5.1
Posted in 1999
The sysutils database is created by the server when
you initialize the database server.
sysutils:bar_version lists compatible versions of
ON-Bar and Storage Managers.
There is an emergency boot file named
$INFORMIX/etc/ixbar.servernum, and ON-Bar updates both
sysutils database and this emergency boot file the
time you take a backup.
And I am not very much sure whether you insert the
values to the sysutils:bar_version or it fetches while
you initialize your database..
Any suggestions..!!!

Just one more question about Legato/ONBAR:
Do I need to insert one row into sysutils:bar_version?
if so, what values I
need
to insert?
Thanks, Vivian

Hi Pramod,
Qoting from the Informix Admin.Guide..
The following steps may be used to setup Legato
storage manager software.
For more info you may refer to Legato Installation
guide.
1. Install Legato using Sun's pkgadd comand
2. Add an nsrhost entry in /etc/hosts for each client
3. Configure the system and initialize media
4. Perform a test file system backup first.
*****************
The following is brief overview of the steps required
to configure Legato
for use with ON-Bar.
1. Modify the /usr/sbin/nsrdbmi script
2. Verify or create the link to ibsad001.so
for ex.: ln -s /usr/lib/libbsa.so
/usr/lib/ibsad001.so
3. Set environmental variable.
if you want to execute any onbar comands from the
command line, Legato
requires that the two environment variable,
NSR_DATA_VOLUME_POOL and
NSR_LOG_VOLUME_POOL, must be set to the same values
specified in the client
panel. If you follow the installation manual
instructions, these pools will
be named, DBMIData and DBMILog.
In my last project I have used this Legato Networker.
This is a very good
storage manager software.
Thanx
Santanu
