Just instaleld the JDBC Type 4 driver from Informix and I cannot run the
demos provided.
Client is Win NT 4 SP 6, with JDK1.2.2
Informix JDBC driver 2.1; installation went fine
Accessing Unix database running INFX 7.3x results in the following when
running the demo example:
java -cp
C:\\JDK1.2.2\\LIB\\tools.jar;C:\\JDK1.2.2\\LIB\\dt.jar;C:\\JDBC\\LIB\\ifxjdbc.jar;C:\\
JDBC\\LIB\\ifxlang.jar;. demo1
'jdbc:informix-sqli://cubitus:22227:INFORMIXSERVER=CUBITUS_INFX712;user=xxx;
pwd=xxx'
Could not connect to database server....
No suitable driver
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NullPointerException:
at demo1.<init>(demo1.java:139)
at demo1.main(demo1.java:121)
Of course, user and pwd are here masked
The following line is present in sqlhosts of target machine:
CUBITUS_INFX712 ontlitcp cubitus sqlexec722
and /etc/services the following
sqlexec722 22227/tcp
I have no problem connecting to the same machine/database with ODBC.
Can someone help me ?
removed the quotes from URL as described in the release notes (always useful to read !) but now I get com.informix.asf.IfxASFException
Found the trouble: in URL connection string: should be "password", not "pwd" (how stupid) Works fine now: could run all demo examples... except one: demo9 I tried to run it using appletviewer but get the following Could not connect to the database com.informix.asf.IfxASFException Can this be because the applet runs on the PC and the database is on a UNIX box ? Hi
Generally speaking, when the "no suitable driver" error is returned,
it means that the classpath has a problem. We know that JDBC does work
on the Win NT platforms and so I would check the classpath again to
make sure.

Before you buy.
I am trying to run the demos but get an error saying that the driver
could not be loaded. Does anyone know what a classpath variable
should look like (on win95)? Thank you!
