I think that you are being sceptical about what I said, but you might be agreeing with me, and it's not clear because I can't hear the tone in which you're saying the words. E-mail is not good for that sort of thing. If I understand you correctly, you are saying: "Upgrading to 5.00 may not be the cure for the trouble, because of the erratic version numbers in which the problem does manifest itself at the 4.10.XYZ level." I would have to say that since I don't work in the development groups, I can't say for certain that the problem won't reappear at 5.0x, but I think (or maybe I mean hope) that it is unlikely to happen again. I don't remember seeing a platform list (but I don't have copies of your original or intermediate mails). If the machines are all the same, then I think you can get upgrades to the same software release at the .UG4 level (or whatever the number actually is) at a nominal cost; you'd have to check your support agreement to be sure. If the platforms are different, then you are controlled by the availability of the ports. The .UGx numbers are maintenance releases within the 4.10 version. So if there is a problem with .UG2, it may be fixed in .UG3 or .UG4. or .UH1, or whatever higher number release comes along. So you can't expect a fix to .UG2 which keeps the version at .UG2.
