Info on DPMI tools of Informix development version wanted

hello, we need some pointers to documentation/usage/pitfalls of the DPMI tools coming with the informix for DOS developers version. It looks as if informix(germany) has nothing to send us (or we did not yet manage to get to the right person). We try to solve some mysterious hangups when running applications in protected mode (built with the JAM DBi tool). At some point in time the system just freezes and needs a hard reset. This is not exactly reproducible (eg disk or network access). Somehow we are lost in the mysteries resulting of certain combinations of network cards, adapters, config.sys, autoexec.bat, ... (all the stuff well known in DOS world). The usual way of stripping down the system does not work, as we need our hard disk (BTW SCSI on an adaptec 1542B) and our ethernet card (w/ packet driver and PCTCP 2.05) to access the database and there is nothing else left. Does any documentation on these informix supplied tools or the DOS/16M extender proper exist? Or any similar experiences? Hints?
