Rob,
I've begun some benchmarks on the Stratus RADIO NT Cluster of 7.13 NT
versus 7.10 on UnixWare on the same platform. Generally, I'm finding
that the NT version performs on par with the Unix version. The 7.13
is **almost exactly** the same as the Unix version, down to the old
familiar character level interface. There is a major difference in
that the NT version uses the NT register rather than a SQLHOSTS file,
but it begins to make sense after a while (may Kernigan and Ritchie
strike me speechless!)
Dbaccess uses the Windows notepad for an editor, and I've yet to make
it work correctly, so I'm stuck with the awful built-in editor of
dbaccess, but I really haven't researched it.
The CD install is REALLY REALLY REALLY nice on the NT version. The NT
uses ntfs filesystem files, no raw disks, but it seems to run quickly
enough, and it's nice to be able to see the files in the filesystem.
All-in-all, I'm pretty impressed.
