ontape using a jukebox
Posted in 1997
We have a dlt tape jukebox running on an HP system.
To advance our jukebox to the next tape, we run the following command:
mt -t <tape device> offl
This is set up in a cron job for us. We then have a later cron job
that performs the archive.
Ask your system administrator or jukebox vendor what command to use
in your situation.

Hi!
I=92m new in the informix-list but I=92ve already taken advantage of som=
e
good ideas brougth to the net... I=92m wondering if anyone can help
me...
Our installation has Online 7.13UC1 running in a Sun Sparc 2000
with Solaris 2.5.
Database size: 25GB ( all raw device in Veritas Vol Manager)
Running ontape -s -L 0 takes 9-10 hours and we are planning to do it
only on weekends.
By now we have no personnel working on weekends so "someone"
decided that the solution was to buy a "brand new jukebox" to run
unattended back ups.
The jukebox is completly unaware of the existance of Informix....
Has anyone tried to run ontape -s / ontape -c on such a device....?
How do we tell the jukebox to change tapes...?
The jukebox is a NSR - EXB-210 with media type 8mm 5GB
Any help would be VERY appreciated!
PS. Sorry if any word was misspelled but english is not my native
language...
