ISM OnBar (novice user)

Hello everybody. Sorry for beeing so trivial: as I just started to have in
charge a IDS system (7.31),
I have a question about backup. Since we currently do *not* save
logical-logs (LTAPE in onconfig
set tu NUL), we know the can only restore the whole database. This is good
for us.
So, ISM is configured for Data pool (and Log pool as well), having one tape
device.
I onbar -b the whole database (level 0) daily, whit obviously no logs
saving.
1) Do U see any trouble?
2) I currently stop all applications, before onbar, leaving online on-line ,
correct?
thanks for your help

Restoring a normal backup (done by onbar -b) is not possible without restore
of logical logs. Only whole system backups (done with onbar -b -w) can be
restored without logical logs as whole system physical-only restore (using
onbar -r -w -p). Then use onmode commands (onmode -sy; onmode -m) to bringserver up without logical log restore. These steps should work with IDS
version 7.31.UD8.

No need to stop the applications. They can continue while the archive
is being taken.
However because you are not backing up your logical logs, if you need
to restore then you will lose any work that has been done since the
last archive was taken.
