HP N class and 64-bit Informix general question

Hi there, I am about to move our Informix application and DBMS from HP K-series (HP-UX 10.20) to the new HP N4000 machines running 64-bit HP-UX 11.00, and I'd be very grateful for any pointers/gotchas that might be lurking. The application is all character based I4GL, version 7.20.UE6 and the IDS engine is currently 7.31.UC4 and the main reason for moving to the new box is to support a company acquisition and the very attractive price/performance of the N-class (as opposed to upgrading the K460). Also, could Onbar (or other product) be used to move the data from the old machine, i.e. does it need the new layout (dbspaces, chunks, etc) to be the same as the old one. Many thanks for any assistance ....... TTFN, -- Simon Barber
Hi there, it's me again, apologising for replying to my original posting but I'd like some more info please.... I have heard that HP have withdrawn their certification for the 4GL tools "hc" port, 7.20.HC1 (which is 32-bit but ported to run on 64-bit OS) and Informix tech support in the UK have recommended waiting for the true 64-bit version of the tools, 7.30.fc1 . Are people using the 7.20.HC1 version and do they find it buggy/unstable, I will install it on our test boxes but would appreciate any info that would save me some aggro (aggravation). Cheers, -- Simon Barber
