(Opening windows, Help Files, etc..) We were running Informix SE and 4GL version 4.00 UD2 on an AT&T 6386/33 with 8 MB of RAM. Well, it seems that a 4GL memory allocation problem was the culprit all along. While Tech Support pondered this problem, we came up with an interm solution of compiling using the malloc library. It worked for some of the problems but not all. When I told Tech Support that I found a work around, they were pleased, but said they didn't really support the use of the malloc library. So, problem not solved yet. So, we finally got a hold of our Sales Rep, who got back to us pretty quickly, and I guess he knows the right people, because he found out that a new release for the AT&T 6386/33 under Unix 3.2.3 was being worked on. The release for 4GL is 4.00.UD3 with the part number 001076 (thats the third set of numbers on the bottom of the label on the disk). We installed it, recompiled, and every program is working like it is supposed to. So all is finally well here. To the Tech Support People who tried to help us out: Thanks for all your help, but don't be so quick to want to close out a trouble ticket when the problem is only bandaged not fixed. To the Informix People who responded to us here on the Net: Thanks for you quick responses, but keep in mind Don't get annoyed with your customers and don't try and pass off the blame because your customers are always right.
