Slow response with Version 6

Hi, we are running a departmental system with 32 users, with about 80 million reads and 340,000 writes a day. Response time was not an issue when we were on Version 5. However, when we migrated to version 6, we encountered very slow response. Did anyone out there encounter similar problems? What are some likely causes? We are using an RS6000/570 and we did not turn on parallel data query. Also, we are getting differing views between hardware vendors on the machine architecture which works best with Informix Dynamic Scalable Architecture Online System. Could some one comment on which machine architecture is preferable: a single cpu machine a 2-way SMP machine a 4-way SMP machine? We are planning to implement a larger scale integrated system to about 200 concurrent users. Would a single CPU machine pose a problem? Which is the best machine for good response. Thank you.
