Translating with DrWatson… this can take a few seconds the first time.
This is a genuine, complex translation. DrWatson protects commands, error codes, and log output while naturally translating the surrounding text. It’s translated once and saved.
A user asked what's required to add chunks on an HDR (primary/secondary) pair with DR_AUTO=0, and whether space must also be allocated on the secondary. Replies agreed: you issue the add-chunk/dbspace command only on the primary, but the identical chunk path (same name, typically via symbolic links) with the same amount of space must already exist on the secondary machine, since HDR replicates the operation there. Pre-growing the cooked file on the secondary to the required size first improves performance. The thread ends with some off-topic noise.

Hi folks,
It´s me again. Does anybody know what do I have to consider to add chunks in a
HDR enviroment ? DR_AUTO is 0. Do I have to add the space on secondary too ?
Thanks,
André

You need to add chunk only on primary. But make sure that the chunk path
exists on machine where secondary reside. For better performance you should
also grow the file on secondary to required size before adding chunk on
primary.
The identical device name must exist on the HDR secondary with the same amount
of space available. HDR will automatically create it on the secondary side.

1. Create necessary same chunks on both servers.
2. Set links to both chunks with same name.
3. Once you add chunks or create dbspaces on the primary the same command is
basically executed on the secondary, so you have to remember to have both
servers set before adding the chucks or dbspaces.
